Ancient Engineering Meets Modern Scientific Investigation
This six-day Egypt school trip transforms world-famous monuments into evidence students can question, measure and interpret. At Giza, learners investigate geometry, scale, orientation, force distribution and the logistical challenge of moving stone. Saqqara and Dahshur then reveal engineering development through prototypes, structural problems and design improvements that led to the true pyramid.
At the Grand Egyptian Museum and NMEC, students examine how materials science, environmental control, documentation and ethical conservation protect fragile evidence. A day in Alexandria connects ancient archaeology with modern research architecture, astronomy and underground engineering through the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Planetarium Science Center and Kom El Shoqafa Catacombs. Guided observation sheets and a collaborative STEM design challenge convert every visit into active learning.

Your Day-by-Day Educational Expedition
Six carefully structured days connecting field evidence, scientific thinking and collaborative problem-solving.
Meet our airport representative and transfer privately to the group hotel. After check-in, students join a short orientation covering Egyptian chronology, archaeological evidence, field conduct, safety expectations and the central STEM questions they will investigate.
At the Giza Plateau, students examine pyramid geometry, cardinal orientation, stone scale and possible transport methods with a licensed Egyptologist. Observation teams record evidence at the Great Pyramid, Khafre Pyramid, Great Sphinx and Valley Temple. After lunch, groups complete a supervised engineering challenge using limited materials to design a stable load-bearing structure.
Trace the development of pyramid construction from Djoser’s Step Pyramid to Sneferu’s Bent and Red Pyramids. Students identify how changing angles, foundations and internal load paths reveal experimentation and problem-solving. A structured comparison worksheet asks each team to defend which design change was most important.
Explore the Grand Egyptian Museum to study object documentation, display engineering and the different physical properties of stone, wood, metal and organic materials. Continue to NMEC for a guided discussion on temperature, humidity, light exposure and preventive conservation. Students finish with a case-study activity proposing a safe display environment for a selected artifact.
Travel to Alexandria and begin at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, examining its modern geometry, daylight design and role as a research center. Visit the Planetarium Science Center according to the confirmed school schedule, then investigate rock-cut engineering and cultural fusion at the Kom El Shoqafa Catacombs. Conclude with a coastal observation near Qaitbay before returning to Cairo.
After breakfast, students complete a short group reflection linking evidence from Giza, Dahshur, museums and Alexandria to the engineering design cycle. Check out and transfer privately to Cairo International Airport with departure assistance.
