Tour Overview

Experience Sinai’s sacred summit and oldest living monastery.

Travel overnight from Sharm El Sheikh into the mountains of Saint Catherine for one of Sinai’s most meaningful journeys. Accompanied by a local Bedouin mountain guide, follow the gradual Camel Path toward the 2,285-meter summit of Mount Sinai, then complete the final stone steps and watch dawn spread across the surrounding peaks. After descending, visit St. Catherine’s Monastery, traditionally founded in the sixth century at the foot of the mountain. Access to the monastery, its church, and individual sacred areas depends on the official opening schedule, religious observances, weather, and local regulations.

Essential answers about the Mount Sinai sunrise tour.

How difficult is the Mount Sinai climb?

The round-trip hike is physically demanding and takes several hours. The main Camel Path is gradual but rocky, while the final section has hundreds of steep, uneven steps. A reasonable fitness level, balance, and stamina are essential.

What time does the tour leave Sharm El Sheikh?

Pickup is normally between 8:00 and 10:00 p.m. The exact time is confirmed after booking according to your hotel, season, road arrangements, and expected sunrise time.

A camel may be hired locally for part of the Camel Path, subject to availability and direct payment. Camels cannot use the final summit steps, which must be completed on foot.

What should I wear for the night climb?

Wear sturdy closed walking shoes and layered clothing. The summit can be very cold and windy even when Sharm is warm, so bring a warm jacket, hat, gloves, and a small flashlight or headlamp.

The climb is unsuitable during pregnancy and may not be appropriate for guests with heart, breathing, serious joint, back, mobility, or recent surgical conditions. Seek medical advice if unsure.

Can children climb Mount Sinai?

Fit older children with hiking experience may join under close adult supervision. Send each child’s age and walking ability before booking so suitability can be assessed.
